Did you know that grains haven’t always been a part of our diets? Sure, we’ve had a few thousand years to get used to them, but change takes time. Whether it’s due to evolution or not, we do know that the glutens and lectins in grains are linked to irritation and inflammation of the gut for some folks. And grains are naturally rich in phytates, which may interfere with nutrient absorption. Glutens and lectins and phytates: Oh my!
Some believe phytates make it harder for your body to absorb nutrients. Grains also contain irritants like Notorious G (gluten), and lesser-known lectins. These guys cause things like inflammation and GI issues in many people. That’s why we say, “no thank you” to grains.
