Our Mission
As your local natural grocer, Harvest Market is here to provide you with real food and genuine customer service in a community-oriented atmosphere. Utilizing our extensive knowledge and personal experience, the staff at Harvest Market is dedicated to supporting you and your family on your journey to optimal health.
Our Journey
On Friday, July 7th 1995, Bob Kleszics opened Harvest Market Natural Foods in the Lantana Square Shopping Center. Due to a lease dispute, we were forced to move after only 4 months in business. In November 1995, we opened our doors to our second location at 1252 Old Lancaster Pike, where the Liz Marden Bakery is currently operating. After ten successful years in our cozy store, it became apparently obvious that we were ready to move into a larger location or risk bursting at the seams. With a determination to keep the business in Hockessin Village, our search proved difficult, but eventually we were fortunate enough to acquire the building where M.R. Docs previously resided. After a few months of extensive renovations, we were finally able to open the doors of our current location in October 2005 whether we were ready or not! Eventually, we adjusted to our bigger home with its bigger parking lot, an expanded produce department, a customer service desk, larger product selection and wide open aisles.
This move allowed us to grow by leaps and bounds. Not only have we almost doubled our staff, but are finally able to provide healthcare as well! With more staff, came more talented folks with big ideas. We expanded our community presence by starting a weekly food donation program, sponsor local farmers markets, attend various community events and host more educational classes. The summer of 2010 marked our 15th birthday in which we celebrated by giving ourselves a beautiful new floor and our customers a huge birthday party. That momentous year also marked our third consecutive win for Best of Delaware, Natural-Organic Food. Thank you for the exciting journey thus far and allowing us to be apart of your family and community. Here's to the next 15!
