MACROBIOTICS

Macrobiotics is a healthy diet popularized by Michio Kushi. Primarily a vegetarian diet focused on cooked grains, beans and vegetables, it includes elements of traditional Japanese cuisine such as miso soups and seaweed. Harvest Market stocks everything necessary for macrobiotics including an excellent selection of cookbooks.

 


 

 

TRADITIONAL WHOLE FOODS

Traditional whole foods is a way of eating popularized by Sally Fallon's book, Nourishing Traditions. Based on the work of Dr. Weston Price, this nourishing diet focuses on nutrient-dense foods such as meat, poultry, eggs and raw dairy products from pastured animals. It also includes high-fat seafood, coconut oil and fermented foods of all kinds. White flour, refined sugars and processed vegetable oils are avoided.

 


 

 

RAW FOODS

Raw plant foods are simple, easy to find, fun to eat, enjoyable, contain thousands of health-giving nutrients, and conform to the biological design of the human digestive system. There is evidence that a living plant food diet eases digestion. boosts energy, and eliminates carcinogens. Eating a balanced mix of raw plant foods can restore health on a molecular level by building strong cells, raising alkalinity, and detoxifying and re-mineralizing the body.
